6 Tips For Making the Most Out Of Twitter And LinkedIn Integration #in

Just like any type of new feature their are good ways and bad ways to leverage it. Here are a few do’s and don’ts that I would recommend considering as you connect your Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.

  1. Don’t post all of your Twitter updates to LinkedIn
  2. Don’t post only your tweets about products and your own blog posts to your LinkedIn status
  3. Do share some personal information on Linkedin to give your connections a better idea of your personality

Twitter Starts Curating Trending Topic Tweets

In a post on its blog, Twitter notes that the “noisiness of the conversation” has led Trends to be less interesting. So beginning today they’re going to be experimenting with ways to surface more relevant tweets in this area. While they don’t come out and say it, the implication here seems pretty clear: They’ll be in some way curating the topics and the tweets. It’s not clear if this will be algorithmic or manual yet. What Facebook Lite Actually Is. Hint: It’s Not Twitter Or FriendFeed.

In reality, Facebook Lite has nothing to do with Twitter or FriendFeed — at least, not right now. Instead, it was designed to be used in parts of the world where broadband speeds vary and can be expensive, we’re being told by Facebook. Given that the initial testing of it has taken place in India over the past several days, this makes sense. (full article...)

Twitter, like all social media, is a paradox. It’s useful and, at the same time, so very useless.

It all depends on what you do with it.

@DellOutlet Surpasses $2 Million on Twitter

Since we started back in 2007, we’ve earned more than $2 million in revenue at @DellOutlet, attributed directly to our Twitter activity. We’ve surpassed $2 million in revenue in terms of Dell Outlet sales, but we’re also seeing that it’s driving interest in new product as well. We’re seeing people come from @DellOutlet on Twitter into the Dell.com/outlet site, and then ultimately decide to purchase a new system from elsewhere on Dell.com. If we factor those new system purchases that come from @DellOutlet, we’re actually eclipsed $3 million in overall sales. (full article...)

Idiots Rule: Trent Reznor Leaves Twitter

When Twitter made it's way to my radar I looked at it as a curiosity, then started experimenting. I thought it through and in light of where I was / am in my career I decided to lower the curtain a bit and let you see more of my personality. I watched some of you get more engaged because you started to realize there's a person (flaws and all) back there, and I watched some of you recoil in horror because I'm not what you projected on me...I will be tuning out of the social networking sites because at the end of the day it's now doing more harm than good in the bigger picture and the experiment seems to have yielded a result. Idiots rule. (full article...)

Using Twitter and Facebook to Find a Job

Misspelled my name, but still...

As the sole breadwinner for his wife and three kids, [Brian] Ward [@glyphrider] knew that he had to get a new job quickly. He found himself unemployed at 5 in the afternoon; by 8 that night, he'd called four people he knew in Ohio who did the same sort of computer work he did, as well as his college buddy Lyle, down in North Carolina. "I'd been using Twitter and Facebook and LinkedIn, but in a very passive, extracurricular way," says Ward. "I knew Lyle was big into the Twitter scene. He immediately began blasting information out to contacts he had, sending them back my way." (full article...)
